ABSTRACT
Since a nanofiber medium on itself is soft and fragile cannot be used alone as air filters. Coating rigid substrate to form composite that can handled readily necessary. Beside improve the filtration efficiency, adding will also save use of nanofibers mat itself. The aim this study evaluate effect thickness performance in aerosol order find optimum increase quality filter. was low cost microfiber non-woven fabric made from polypropylene (PP). composed electrospun polyacrylonitrile (PAN) with concentration 9 wt.% which dissolved at N,N dimethylformamide (DMF). Five variations PP different substrate. From SEM image, it found there increasing fiber diameter PAN after into porosity estimation each nanofiber, decreased thickness. For test filter, particles polystyrene latex (PSL) generated by atomizer particle. In addition, filter PM2.5 filtration, experiment carried out generate smoke burning incense. Air all obtained comparison results measurement including: pressure drop, efficiency factor. results, limitation substrates based value factor obtained. Overall, nonwoven gives great contribution nanofiber. Keywords: substrate, polypropylene, thickness, filtration.
