ABSTRACT
A sesquiterpene was purified from Artemisia iwayomogi methanolic extract during the course of searching anti-inflammatory principle medicinal plants. identified as armefolin inhibited production nitric oxide (NO) and attenuated inducible synthase (iNOS) protein level in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-activated RAW 264.7 cells. Armefolin also down-regulated mRNA expressions iNOS pro-inflammatory cytokines, interleukin-1β interleukin-6 LPS-activated macrophages. Moreover, suppressed degradation inhibitory-κBα (I-κBα) These data suggest that A. can suppress LPS-induced NO expression gene through inhibiting I-κBα. Taken together, might be a candidate promising agent.
