Critical Thinking Criteria for Evaluating Online Discussion

ABSTRACT
A 21st Century challenge for educators is to promote meaningful engagement in online courses, and student development of critical thinking skills an essential aspect higher order learning. Evaluation discussions often facilitated by the use rubrics; however, it not unusual rubrics either omit as a component rubric or reference vague way. For purposes this study, quantitative qualitative data were collected from faculty identify their attitudes about attributes performance measures evaluation rubrics. Factor analysis revealed that response patterns clustered each factor represented themes 1) demonstrates logic reasoning" (described offering accurate supporting evidence strategies solutions); 2) "creative thought processes" novel perceptions, bias refutation, alternative-seeking). From we would suggest should encompasses these two dimensions.
