ABSTRACT
Background: Cancer is one of the leading causes death in pets. Among various therapeutic methods, chemotherapy still main choice to treat advanced and metastatic cancers. However, because its non-target-specific mode action, often severe side effects patients. Purposes: This study aimed analyze cytotoxic effect red okra fruit extract (Abelmoschus esculentus) on HeLa cells with a comparison several incubation periods therapy. Methods: Red was extracted by maceration method using 96% ethanol. Then potency tested vitro based MTT tetrazolium reduction assay. Results: The results test showed decrease viability along an increase concentration (400, 800, dan 1,600 ppm), where highest percentage cell inhibition obtained at ppm for each group 24, 48, 72 hours lowest IC50 value 48-hour therapy group, which 631.78 ppm, indicating optimal duration against cells. Conclusion: ethanolic has anticancer inhibiting growth proliferation Thus, potential benefits management animals diagnosed cancer.
