ABSTRACT
Considering the increase in generationof solid waste worldwide, selective wastecollection is one of initiatives thatpromote reverse logistics thesematerials, a way to reduce environmentalimpacts. However, mobilizing thepopulation promote return thesewastes has been difficult task amongpublic managers. Only strategicallyimplemented communication, not treated ina unique reach all audiences, cancontribute success selectivecollection programs. Therefore, this studyaims identify significant variables, fromthe individuals' opinion, that impedeunderstanding message contentprovided collection programs. For this, case study was carried out citylocated state São Paulo, Brazil.Multiple logistic regression used as astatistical analysis tool, which theresponse variable (the individual's capacityto understand content messages)is considered function 33 explanatoryvariables. From data analysis, it wasobtained most adequate modelwith predictive capacity almost 92%,such six explanatory variables (Genre; Ifthe citizen performs separation materials; If knows how collectionhelps environment; If knowsthe municipal cooperative; citizenknows contributes theeconomy city; and, Citizen preferencefor other media for feedback) weresignificant response variable. Theresults showed there an interference ofvariables tounderstand messages, indicating communicationalprocess necessary take into accountthe peculiarities and heterogeneity achieve intended purpose.
