ABSTRACT
Maintenance of intestinal barrier integrity is crucial for preventing inflammatory bowel diseases (IBDs) onset and exacerbations. In this work we study the effect a fixed combination Lactobacillus reuteri acidophilus herbal extracts in an vitro inflammation experimental model. Caco-2 cell monolayer was exposed to INF-γ+TNF-α or LPS; Trans Epithelial Electrical Resistance (TEER) paracellular permeability were investigated. ZO-1 occludin tight junctions (TJs) also investigated by mean immunofluorescence. The pre-treatment with probiotics prevented inflammation-induced TEER decrease, increase TJs translocation. summary research found be interesting candidate targeting re-establishment function IBDs conditions.
