ABSTRACT
The rapidly increasing adoption of high-resolution accurate-mass methods in analytical laboratories has fueled demand for instruments that combine high performance and reliability with small size greater ease-of-use. This paper presents the major design principles are driving evolution hybrid quadrupole-Orbitrap instrument architecture to enable a range applications users. These may be summarized as follows: better usage physical space access service by means reduction pumping ion optics; expanded use technologies from electronics ion-optical design; flexibility via modularity hardware software components; and, harmonization interfaces other facilitate sharing transferability workflows. novel family mass spectrometers is described detail, evaluation carried out on wide variety samples its three representatives: Orbitrap Exploris 120, 240 480 spectrometers. The new shown offer compelling potential not only high-end proteomics biopharmaceutical applications, but also screening, trace, targeted clinical analysis liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry methods.
