ABSTRACT
Energy system optimization models (ESOM) are widely used to inform about energy transition strategies. The heterogeneity of consumers, especially in the heat sector, is rarely considered these model types. Integrating consumer and behavioral factors into ESOMs may generate new insights for policy. In this study a literature review was conducted, identifying empirical data on behavior adopting residential heating systems. This integrated an ESOM German combining established methods integrating novel approach calculating indirect costs, representing factors. incorporation choice leads higher diversity technology market shares business as usual ambitious measures scenario. Especially, future role log wood technologies private household sector have been underestimated previous studies should be discussed, when designing policies. Still, findings need handled with care, since basis methodological limited.
