Proximate Polyphenolic Composition, Phytochemical Components and Bioactivity Evaluation of Twelve Strawberry <em>(Arbutus unedo L.)</em> Genotypes Grown Under Moroccan Ecological Conditions

ABSTRACT
There are not many exhaustive works emphasizing the amount of genetic diversity among strawberry tree (Arbutus unedo L.) genotypes in Morocco. This work aims to assess biochemical composition fruits, as well establish variation this them. In study, total phenols, flavonoids, condensed and hydrolyzable tannins, anthocyanins free radical scavenging activity through ABTS were investigated fruits. Furthermore, qualitative quantitative analyses individual phenolic compounds by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) carried out. Color parameters such lightness (L*), Chroma (c*) hue angle (h&deg;) also investigated. All studied variables showed highly significant differences all samples with exception tannins chromatic coordinates. Total phenolics varied from 22.63 &plusmn; 1.74 39.06 2.44 mg GAE/g dry wt, flavonoids 3.30 0.60 8.62 1.10 RE/g wt ranged between 0.12 0.06 0.66 0.15 cya-3-glu/100g wt. addition, amounts range 10.41 1.07 - 16.08 1.50 TAE/g 4.08 2.43 6.34 3.47 respectively. Moreover, IC50 value (ABTS) 1.75 19.58 AAE/g 17 detected Gallocatechol catechin most abundant compound. Matrix correlations revealed significant positive negative particularly c*, a* b*. Principal component analysis that first three components formed than 68% inertia. The following gallic acid, protocatechuic, gallocatechin, acid derivative, chlorogenic syringic ellagic derivative II, L* h* involved variance explained. Hierarchical clustering classified into one main cluster, a single branch. results highlight high within genotypes, which is probably more genetically related
