ABSTRACT
ABSTRACT: A woman in her 50s showed symptoms of fever, loss appetite, vomiting, and general fatigue 2 days after she was bitten by a sick cat, which had later died, Yamaguchi prefecture, western Japan, June 2016. She subsequently died multiorgan failure, an autopsy performed to determine the cause death. However, etiological pathogens were not quickly identified. The pathological features patient retrospectively re-examined, pathology regional lymph node at site cat bite found show necrotizing lymphadenitis with hemophagocytosis. noticed be similar those patients reported have severe fever thrombocytopenia syndrome (SFTS). Therefore, section tested immunohistochemically for SFTSV antigen, revealed presence antigen. also laboratory findings shown human SFTS cases. It is highly possible that infected through cat’s bite. If gets SFTS-endemic region bite, should considered differential diagnosis.
