ABSTRACT
Many statistical distributions approximate well the frequent values of maximum discharges, but have a very large spread for medium or rare probabilities exceedance. This scattering defines range uncertainty discharges outside measured values. Based on upper (U) and lower (L) interval, discharge flood (MDF) volume (MVF) are defined each probability approach is in agreement with bivariate analysis, contour lines certain exceedance putting into evidence an infinity couples (maximum discharge, volume). If most critical combinations selected, MDF MVF derived. Apart from volume, shape design flood, characterized by time to peak total duration, also important. The easiest way obtain use analytical curve that passes through characteristic points flood. Another possibility, which was largely developed this paper, normalize floods, then define clusters floods similar shapes, average dimensionless class. Finally, family different same parameters exceedance, these operation hydrotechnical works delineation flooded areas presented at end.
