ABSTRACT
Silverleaf is an important trunk disease of fruit crops, like Japanese plum. It known that Chondrostereum purpureum produces wood discoloration, leaves silvering and tree decline, however, the information about effects on production scarce. Therefore, objectives this study were to determine C. pathogenicity Prunus salicina physiology, yield quality, in Chile, 2019 2020. Wood samples from affected plum trees collected Chilean productive area. Fungi isolated plating sections necrosis margin culture media. Isolates colonies morphological molecular characteristics accorded (98%). Representative isolates inoculated healthy plants after 65-d incubation, necrotic lesions silver visible. reisolated, fulfilling Koch’s postulates. To effects, water potential, quality measured diseased cv. ‘Angeleno’. Water potential was altered trees, their reduced 51% (2019) 41% (2020), compared plants. Moreover, cover-colour, equatorial-diameter weight reduced, softer, failing meet criteria be properly commercialized exported demanding markets.
