ABSTRACT
By means of X-ray computed microtomography (XCMT) the existence a developed microporous structure having an average pore diameter ~3.5 μm and content ~1.1 vol.% has been revealed in unirradiated polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE). It found that combined action gamma radiation (absorbed dose per PTFE ~170 kGy) high temperatures (327-350 °C) leads to disappearance formation several large pores with sizes from 30 50 bulk thermal-radiation modified (TRM-PTFE). established by diffraction (XRD) analysis modification increase interplanar spacings, degree crystallinity volume unit cell, as well decrease size crystals density crystalline phase comparison initial polymer. is assumed previously effect improving deformation-strength tribological properties TRM-PTFE can be due not only cross-linking polymer chains but also micropore system ordering PTFE.
