ABSTRACT
Brachycephalic dogs are not only affected by brachycephalic obstructive airway syndrome (BOAS), but also comprise up to 30% of canine patients seen veterinary dermatologists, with English Bulldogs and Pugs particularly overrepresented. Some skin diseases associated the abnormal anatomic conformation dogs, while for others there is a underlying genetic basis or general predisposition. Anatomic alterations brachycephaly, leading fold formation stenosis ear canal, together primary immunodeficiencies described in some breeds, favor development pyoderma, Malassezia dermatitis otitis externa/media. Frequently neglected often lifelong dermatological problems an important consideration when discussing medical conditions affecting welfare those dogs. Here we review current state knowledge concerning combine it clinical experience management these challenging disorders.
