ABSTRACT
Marine macroalgae have garnered significant attention in the field of cosmeceutical research due to their rich abundance bioactive compounds. These compounds offer remarkable skin benefits without inducing any adverse effects on human health, such as cytotoxicity, reproductive toxicity, genotoxicity, mutagenicity, or carcinogenicity. Among various found brown algae, phenolic exhibit diverse chemical structures and are present high concentrations. In addition compounds, algae also contain terpenoids, bro-mophenols, mycosporine amino acids (MAAs), flavonoids, with well-studied poly-phenol compound, phlorotannin, being particularly prominent. further possess an array pigments derived from natural pigmentation, including chlorophylls, carotenoids (such fucoxanthin β-carotene), phycobiliproteins phycoerythrin phycocyanin), melanin. been extensively investigated for potential cos-meceutical applications. The marine thoroughly studied beneficial skin, whitening, moisturizing, photoprotection, anti-aging, anti-wrinkle, anti-melanogenic, anti-oxidant properties. This comprehensive review aims explore extraction, characterization, cosmetic macroalgae, documented existing literature, thereby enhancing our understanding therapeutic potential.
