ABSTRACT
Despite well-documented health benefits of probiotics Saccharomyces, its application in oral has not been comprehensively assessed. Dental caries is a transmissible disease initiated by acid production cariogenic bacteria and yeast, such as Streptococcus mutans Candida albicans, on tooth enamel followed subsequent demineralization. Here, we investigated the effect two Saccharomyces strains (Saccharomyces boulardii, cerevisiae) S. mutans-C. albicans cross-kingdom interactions using planktonic model. Viable cells, pH changes gene expression were measured. cerevisiae boulardii inhibited growth C. either dual-, or multi-species conditions. also hyphal formation. Furthermore, reduced acidity culture medium which usually plummeted below 5 when present The presence maintained above 6 even after overnight incubation, demonstrating protective potential against dental significantly downregulated atpD eno genes expression. Overall, our results shed light new promising candidate, for prevention due to create less environment marked neutral albicans.
