ABSTRACT
This study aimed to evaluate the early-childhood comorbidities of cerebral palsy (CP) in children with low birth weight (LBW) and assess impact maternal bio-psychosocial factors on risk CP preterm infants across varying weights. Data for 15,181 prematurely born from 2009 2013 151,810 matched controls Taiwan's National Health Insurance Research Database were analyzed. Period prevalence CP, LBW verified, odds ratios (ORs) calculated. Results confirmed that increasing prematurity rates Taiwan. was associated higher prevalence. Maternal age extremes (<20 >40 years) significant infants. showed risks respiratory, circulatory, nervous system psycho-developmental compared controls. Infants lowest weights had even ORs these comorbidities. However, gastrointestinal nutritional less prevalent premature such as family income, number hospital admissions, length stay significantly correlated subsequent complications. Each additional gestational week reduced complications Additionally, related outcomes infants, emphasizing importance addressing prenatal care interventions.
