ABSTRACT
Bioactive peptides are sequences of amino acids, cut from the parent protein with en-zymes or high pressure processing that can impart a tertiary health benefit to con-sumer goes beyond basic human nutrition. This study explores mesopelagic fish in-cluding Maurolicus muelleri and Benthosema glaciale as sources an-ti-inflammatory, heart beneficial, antioxidant other bioactivities. were generated post-catch using different enzymatic hydrolysis processes ap-plied species caught experimental cruises targeting these fish. dominant processed. Bi-oactive hydrolysates included Alcalase hydrolysate autolysis. Hundreds peptide identified mass spectrome-try active hydrolysates. In silico analysis was used rank se-quences in terms overall bioactivity Peptide Ranker, anti-inflammatory activity PrepAIP, ability Umami flavours Umami-MRNN dipeptidyl peptidase IV inhibitory potential AntiDMPpred . Thirty selected fol-lowing analysis. Several had sequence homology derived proteins including Atlantic salmon (peptide QCPLHR-PWAL) thin-lipped mullet FDAFLPM). Seven predicted have anti-type 2 diabetes strategies chemically synthesized their activities confirmed vitro bioassays COX-1 COX-2 enzymes. The QCPLHRPWAL inhibited by 82.90% (+/-0.54) 53.84% respectively selectivity index greater than 10. warrant further research novel anti-inflammatory/pain relief peptide. Other bioactivities associated DPP-IV inhibition de-velopment discussed. Identified offer for use functional foods topical agents prevent pain inflammation diseases like psoriasis, arthritis inflammatory bowel disease, however vivo is required.
