ABSTRACT
Cardiovascular disease is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality. New research elucidates in-creasingly complex relationships between cardiac metabolic health, giving rise to new possible therapeutic targets. Sphingolipids are heterogenous class bioactive lipids with critical roles in normal human physiology. They have also been shown play both protective deleterious the pathogenesis cardiovascular disease. This review will explore vascular, cardiac, pathologies evaluate potential targeting aim prevention reversal disease, order improve long-term outcomes.
