ABSTRACT
Cotton fiber is the leading natural textile material, and elongation plays an essential role in formation of cotton yield quality. Although a wealth components molecular network controlling have been reported, lot players still need to be functionally dissected understand regulatory mechanism comprehensively. In present study, R2R3-MYB transcription factor gene, GhMYB201, was characterized verified via CRISPR/Cas9 mediated gene editing. GhMYB201 homologous Arabidopsis AtMYB60, both coding genes (GhMYB201At Dt) were preferentially expressed elongating fibers. Knocking-out significantly reduced rate duration elongation, resulting shorter coarser mature It found that could bind activate cell wall loosening (GhRDLs), also β-ketoacyl-CoA synthase (GhKCSs) enhance very-long-chain fatty acid (VLCFA) levels Taken together, our data demonstrated GhMYB201s play roles promoting activating related VLCFA biosynthesis.
