ABSTRACT
The convergence zone of the Eurasian (EURA) plate in Iberian Peninsula and North Africa (NUBIA) is primarily marked by activity between Betics Spain Rif Atlas mountain ranges Morocco, as well Alboran Sea. This area, where diffuse tectonics these plates are currently converging a NW-SE direction, presents several continuous fault zones, such Betic-Alboran-Rif shear zone, which experiences daily seismic activity, notably Alhucemas Bay (Nekor basin). Royal Institute Observatory Spanish Navy (ROA) operates geodetic stations various parts Africa, some particularly interesting locations (ALHU) Vélez (PVLZ) rocks, or Chafarinas Islands (CHAF). However, there also other more stable areas within Nubian plate, Tiouine (TIOU). For first time, displacement velocities ROA CGNSS have been estimated to provide additional geodynamic information an area with few stations. study mainly describes results, obtained compared recent studies this field that included data older than 10 years episodic campaigns without PRIDE SARI software were used for processing, international (RABT, SFER, MALA, HUEL, LAGO, TARI, ALME). These initial results confirm trend Eurasia Nubia approximately 4 mm/year direction. It evident independent behavior among those Moroccan Meseta located range, could indicate separation smaller tectonic domains continental zone. Along coast, approach faults Al Hoceima observed, slight clockwise further towards Melilla, be evidenced Middle Atlas, TAZA. As Strait Gibraltar, they exhibit similar until reaching Guadalquivir basin, may exist. explain why north LIJA change their nearby ones like SFER south. Furthermore, seems follow same direction velocity southern Spain.
