ABSTRACT
Evaluation of water absorption in concrete is regarded as an important indicator for assessing the causes its deterioration and durability. Traditionally adopted methods durability assessment materials, however, lack providing real-time monitoring process that about material deformability at surfaces (volumetric changes) caused by swelling cement hydrates (i.e. C-S-H). In this study, a one-dimensional test was performed on small-size mortar specimens three different strengths, their top (flattened) surface continuously monitored volume changes utilizing strain gauges along with DICM. After test, same were tested mechanical properties such compressive strength Young’s modulus. Moreover, characteristics, like depth/rate, evaluated DICM tracing waterfront positions progression strains during mortars. Additionally, confirmed accuracy The characteristics obtained from observations correlated expansion specimens. results indicated not only related to rate but also due saturation.
