ABSTRACT
Severe adenovirus pneumonia and its associated imaging features are well-described in immunocompromised patients but rare poorly understood immunocompetent adults. We sought to describe the radiographic CT findings of severe community-acquired (CAP) eight adults. We reviewed systematically chest manifestations laboratory-confirmed adults from April 2012 2014.All showed abnormal results on initial radiograph CT, with exception one normal radiograph. The abnormalities radiographs were unilateral (n=4) or bilateral (n=3), including consolidation (n=4), dense patchy opacity ground glass (GGO) (n=1), pleural effusion (n=1). consisted (n=5) (n=3) abnormalities, (n=8), GGO (n=2), small nodules Focal was predominant finding six whose scans examined within week after illness onset. Follow-up radiologic rapid development ten days onset, usually accompanied by adjacent ground-glass effusion. parenchymal began absorb around two weeks no appearances fibrosis.Severe CAP mainly appears as focal followed progression consolidation, effusion, which may resemble bacterial pneumonia. Adenovirus should be considered cases negative cultures failure respond antibiotics.
