ABSTRACT
Data regarding the incidence and risk factors of pneumothorax following pre-procedural ultrasound (US)-guided thoracentesis is scarce. We aimed to evaluate US-guided in a tertiary medical center.Retrospective analysis patients who underwent Sheba Medical Center between January 2016 December 2018. collected included thoracentesis, baseline clinical demographic characteristics, thoracentesis-associated factors. Outcomes evaluated length hospital stay, mortality, chest tube insertion intensive care unit admission.A total 550 with pleural effusions thoracentesis. Sixty-six (12%) them developed pneumothorax.
