We sought a better understanding of how nonprofit hospitals are fulfilling the community health needs assessment (CHNA) provision 2010 Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act to conduct CHNAs develop CHNA implementation strategies reports.Through an Internet search estimated 179 in Texas conducted between December 1, 2013, January 5, 2014, we identified reviewed 95 reports. evaluated scored reports with specific criteria. analyzed hospital-related other report characteristics understand relationships quality.There was wide-ranging diversity approaches quality. Consultant-led processes collaboration local departments were associated higher-quality reports.At time this study, Internal Revenue Service had not yet issued final regulations for requirement. This provides opportunity strengthen guidance regulations, clarify purpose planning process reports, align activities through public framework.
