ABSTRACT
Background: Three-dimensionally printed titanium (3D-Ti) cages can be divided into 2 types: window-type cages, which have a void for bone graft, and non-window-type without void. Few studies investigated the necessity of graft in fusion surgery. Therefore, present study assessed clinical radiographic outcomes window 3D-Ti single-level posterior lumbar interbody fusion. Methods: A total 70 patients were randomly assigned to receive either or non-window cage; 61 (87%) completed final follow-up (32 from cage group, 29 group). Radiographic outcomes, including rates, subsidence, intra-cage osseointegration patterns, assessed. Intra-cage was measured using bridging score group surface ratio group. Additionally, we looked presence trabecular remodeling (TBR) sign on computed tomography (CT) images. Results: Of patients, 58 achieved fusion, resulting 95.1% rate. The rate comparable to, not significantly different from, that (96.6% 93.8%, p > 0.99). subsidence showed no significant difference between groups (15.6% 3.4%, respectively; = 0.262). scores (p 0.007), with having higher proportion cases 4 compared TBR observed 87.9% who across entire cohort although (89.7% versus 78.1%, 0.385). Conclusions: Non-window-type equivalent rates. These results suggest potential advantages could optimized absence by providing larger contact osseointegration. Level Evidence: Therapeutic II .
