ABSTRACT
Background: The calculation of remaining growth in children and the timing epiphysiodesis those with leg-length discrepancy (LLD) is most often done 4 methods: Green-Anderson, White-Menelaus, Moseley straight-line graph, multiplier methods. aims this study were to identify accurate method use bone age or chronological evaluate influence including inhibition calculations. Methods: One hundred ninety-one (10 17 years age) LLD who underwent surgical closure plate followed until skeletal maturity identified from a local health register. Patients had at least 2 examinations simultaneous bone-age assessments (according Greulich Pyle method), last examination performed ≤6 months before surgery. accuracy each was calculated as mean absolute prediction error (predicted leg length – actual maturity) for short leg, long LLD. Comparisons made among methods calculations versus without incorporation reduced rate (inhibition) compared leg. Results: White-Menelaus fixed method, 1.5 ± cm 1.0 1.2 0.7 Pairwise comparison short-leg according other showed that they significantly different (p ≤ 0.002). did not increase accuracy. Conclusions: used constant should be preferred when predicting between 10 age. cases sufficient preoperative clinical investigation are concordant. Level Evidence: Prognostic III .
