ABSTRACT
Paraplegia or death secondary to upper cervical spine instability and spinal cord compression are known consequences of Morquio syndrome. Decompression fusion the indicated treat compression. The purpose this study was report intermediate long-term results in children with syndrome.Twenty patients (nine female eleven male) syndrome who underwent at a mean age sixty-three months were retrospectively analyzed use hospital records. Radiographic clinical reported.The average follow-up period eight years ten months. Fusion achieved all except one; patient revision transarticular C1-C2 screw fixation. Seven developed symptomatic below mass that required extension lower levels ninety-one after initial operation. Two decompression site other than spine. Asymptomatic cervicothoracic thoracolumbar kyphosis prevalent among our patients. All neurologically stable time latest visit.Upper provides reliable neural outcome However, distal junctional is major problem follow-up. Kyphotic deformity junction may be present large number evaluation for stenosis these should also considered.
