ABSTRACT
In this study, we sought to elucidate the presentation, clinical course, treatments pursued, final diagnosis, and risk factors for septic arthritis in a series of children with hip pain intermediate synovial fluid values (white blood-cell [WBC] counts 25,000 75,000 cells/mm(3) [25 75 × 10(9) cells/L]).We reviewed records pediatric patients who underwent aspiration between 2005 2012 at tertiary-care hospital. Demographic data, laboratory values, treatment details were recorded subpopulation an aspirate WBC count (25 cells/L). Univariate multivariable logistic regression analysis was used assess across diagnostic groups subgroups <50,000 ≥50,000 (<50 ≥50 cells/L).Forty-six (twenty-seven males nineteen females) mean age 7.6 years met inclusion criteria. The diagnoses (n = 15; 33%), Lyme 13; 28%), transient synovitis 8; 17%), other findings 10; 22%). Subjects (≥50 cells/L) more likely be diagnosed (odds ratio, 4.4; 95% confidence interval, 1.1 16.9; p 0.03). While most common diagnosis (48%) cells/L), it also represented 17% cases cells/L).Septic is ultimate following aspiration, should high on differential even
