ABSTRACT
The article is dedicated to research on the elimination of high iron content (above 3-4%) in aluminium alloys through sedimentation. aim was determine effect sedimentation time reducing material from a refining bath with and identify phases formed structure. Melts were prepared obtained bath, which consisted an AlSi12 alloy 3-4% Fe content. After melting, carried out for 2 hours, 4 6 hours. Sedimentation conducted while maintaining liquid state throughout entire period. cooling castings, samples taken prepare metallographic specimens, analyses measure individual observe reduction depending time. Additionally, identification description intermetallic structures sedimenting castings using scanning electron microscope EDS analysis.
