ABSTRACT
Genetic deviation between two deep-sea snailfishes, Careproctus pellucidus from the Pacific Ocean and rastrinus Okhotsk Sea, of species complex was analyzed, based on nucleotide sequences mitochondrial cytochrome b (Cytb) gene. Our sampling revealed occurrence individuals with C. rastrinus-type Cytb genes off northeastern Japan, in northwestern Pacific. Most these were collected an area Miyagi Prefecture, while few areas to its north (off Iwate Prefecture) south Fukushima Ibaraki Prefectures). Phylogeographic analyses first intron region nuclear S7 ribosomal protein gene (S7) 11 microsatellite loci indicated little genetic pellucidus-type Prefecture. Significant differences Sea populations may be attributed unidirectional migration due a greater current latter former. In addition, peritoneum stomach colors 10 17 specimens respectively, evaluated quantitatively. The significantly different for populations; however, they appeared overlap. Although only one individual available color evaluation, it more similar than individuals. These results suggest inbreeding Ocean,
