ABSTRACT
A molecular phylogenetic survey was conducted using mtDNA sequences of 12S and 16S rRNA, cyt-b genes to examine taxonomic relationships among populations the Pan-Oriental microhylid, Microhyla ornata, from India, Bangladesh, Thailand, Laos, China, Taiwan, Ryukyu Archipelago Japan. Two discrete clades are recognized within this species, one consisting India other encompassing remaining populations. In latter clade, clearly split rest (populations Taiwan continent) with considerable degrees genetic differentiations. Each three lineages is judged represent a good name ornata restricted South Asian For wide region China Southeast Asia, fissipes should be applied, whereas most appropriately referred as okinavensis, although further substantial differentiations some island group last species.
