ABSTRACT
Tektins (TEKTs) are constitutive filamentous proteins of microtubules in cilia, flagella, basal bodies, and centrioles. In mammals, five TEKTs (TEKT1, 2, 3, 4, 5) have been identified testis spermatozoa. With the exception TEKT1, these reported to be present spermatozoa with predominant localization at peri-axoneme structures i.e., mitochondria outer dense fibers. study, we produced an antibody against TEKT1 examine mouse, bull, rat By immunoblot analyses immunofluorescence microscopy, found sperm flagella apical region acrosome cap all species. Acrosome-associated disappeared after vitro reaction mouse These observations suggest another potential role for as a cytoskeletal element head, or molecule involved acrosome-related phenomena, such reaction.
