Adolescent body image: results of Czech ELSPAC study

ABSTRACT
Objectives: The study examined appearance and body satisfaction in adolescents. For these purposes, data from the European Longitudinal Study of Pregnancy Childhood Czech Republic were used. Methods: collected 2010 sample comprised 3,105 18-year-old respondents. Results: research found that respondents who wished to reduce their weight mostly women with BMI normal range. Based on cathexis scale, we compared men are more critical stomach, hips, buttocks, thighs, as well overall figure. results showed criticism immediate environment is unpleasant both female male adolescents such an extent it makes them try it. However, clear girls altogether less satisfied bodies than boys. Conclusion: genders, dissatisfaction most likely enhanced by comments peers parents about appearance, etc.
