HIV Serodiscordance among Couples in Cameroon: Effects on Sexual and Reproductive Health

ABSTRACT
One of the main reasons for risky sexual behavior observed in HIV serodiscordant couples despite knowledge partner's status and counselling is childbearing. In Cameroon, there are few reports on couples. This paper describes influence relationships decision to procreate.This cross-sectional study was conducted five health centers. Self-administered questionnaire used collect social demographic information, while semi-structured in-depth individual couple interviews were explore decisions about fatherhood/motherhood. Blood samples collected from tested confirm serodiscordance. The data analyzed using GraphPad Prism Version 6 software.A total 53/192 (27.6%) participated study, 18/74 (24.32%) positive seroconcordant 32/80 negative as controls. majority HIV-positive partners women (30/53), whom 25/30 antiretroviral therapy. Nearly half respondents (23 /53) reported tensions related serodiscordance, shown by reduced sex frequency. use condoms not systematically among with respective proportions 55.55% 20.75% (p = 0.0086). Thirty seven out 53 wanted children, them, did have any expressed their aspiration parenthood fear infecting one's partner.Sexuality well affected presence HIV/AIDS. desire procreate may lead adopt behaviors.
