ABSTRACT
The Golden Horn estuary has been one of the worst-affected coastal areas Istanbul (Turkey) as a result heavy and unplanned commercial industrial activities along shoreline, in particular, since early 1950s. is an internal port, heavily polluted by creek discharges conveying domestic loads. It also affected implementation ill-adapted structures upstream activities. Increased sediment deposition coupled with weakened water circulation hindered self-purification capacity owing to its particular oceanographic features. In view amount work already undertaken valuable information available, on basis our observations related mass structure Horn, it demonstrated that estuarine waterbody governed hydrodynamic conditions Strait are dependent atmospheric factors, budget, nonlinear transient variances such temporary blocking lower or upper layers flow. primary objectives set forth are, first step, understand what problems this faces suggest comprehensive management research program which scientists, relevant organizations, local communities, individuals diverse expertise could collaborate partnership approach promote ensure rational efficient system whole.
