Machado, R.C.A.; Feitosa, F.A.N.; Koening, M.L.; Flores Montes, M.J.; Bastos, R.B., and Jales, M.C., 2014. Phytoplankton productivity hydrology of Porto de Galinhas reef ecosystem (Pernambuco, Brazil).Porto beach is located on the south coast Pernambuco, Brazil, around 50 km from Recife, has sandstone fringing reefs, intense tourist activity. To contribute to environmental water quality, phytoplankton biomass were analyzed, as well some hydrological parameters at three fixed collection points. Water samples collected in 3 months both dry rainy seasons, column surface, points between beach, high low tides diurnal spring tides. Temperature ranged 26°C 31°C, salinity 33 37, saturation index dissolved oxygen 97.16% 174.54%. Nitrite phosphate lower than 1 μmol L−1, nitrate was <2.5 silicate 5.01 37.12 L−1. Chlorophyll a 1.17 3.23 mg m−3, 1.36 23.90 C m−3 h−1, assimilation rate 0.93 8.62 Chl −1 h−1. The oscillated more relation seasonality regarding different tide stages spatiality. According principal component analysis, rainfall most important physical forcing mechanism for studied system, presenting direct correlation with suspended particulate material nitrite inverse oxygen, temperature, transparency. still free anthropogenic eutrophication process. It oligotrophic (dry season) eutrophic (rainy season), season, Maracaípe River plume can change conditions system. Although area under strong pressure due local activity, this impact not been perceptible pelagic environment.
