However, displacement ITCZ since Last Glacial Maximum (LGM, ca. 22 18 ka) controversial. We present new field results, 14C- optically stimulated luminescence (OSL)-data on fluvial aeolian geoarchives catchment area lower Molopo River, Kalahari, which indicate different periods activity last 40 ka.Based our data, we reconstruction late Quaternary climatic dynamics conceptual model indicating southward during LGM, contemporaneously with northward westerlies. implies 24 ka has received rains, resulted pluvial conditions annually led pan flooding throughout most year, cessation lunette dune development due stagnated deflation, onset perennial flow part River south Nossob-Molopo confluence. In addition, glacial circulation patterns over subcontinent can further resolve controversies about palaeoclimate reconstructions, have important implications modelling past future scenarios.
