ABSTRACT
Abstract BACKGROUND: The issue of preterm neonates has paramount significance for achieving aims to end all preventable deaths newborns and children below 5 years by 2030. Globally more than 1 million died out 15 babies born every year the problem is significant in developing countries like Ethiopia. OBJECTIVE : aim this study was assess survival status predictors mortality among admitted Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Hawassa University Comprehensive Specialized Hospital, Hawassa, Ethiopia, 2021 METHODS: An Institutional based retrospective cohort conducted Hospital from May 9–30, after getting ethical clearance Review Board College Medicine Health Sciences. population neonatal intensive care units (NICU) at (HUCSH) 9, 2019, April 22, 2021. RESULTS magnitude 33.3%. final model revealed that early initiation breast milk (AHR: 0.43 (95% CI: 0.29, 0.62), Early sepsis admission 1.34(95% 1.003, 1.79), 5th minute Apgar score less 7 1.73(95% 1.17, 2.55), perinatal Asphyxia 2.25(95% 1.67, 3.02) recent multiple pregnancies 1.66(1.22, 2.26) significantly associated mortality. CONCLUSION Preterm remains a health Hospital. It basic revamp current work procedures practices through improvement antenatal care, breastfeeding, timely detection asphyxia, sepsis, hypertension
