A Survey on Cut Flower Cultivar Trends and Horticultural Status of Lilies (Lilium Hybrids) in South Korea

ABSTRACT
This study investigated trends in lily ( Lilium hybrids) cultivars and challenges for growing cut flowers using a survey of producers the South Korean industry. A questionnaire requested information on various topics including total area, length farming experience, grown, factors considered when purchasing bulbs, cultivation systems, horticultural practices, disease pest problems, problems. The targeted membership Korea Lily Producer Association number respondents corresponded to 43% all farmers country. Oriental-Trumpet (OT) hybrid ‘Yelloween’ Oriental hybrids ‘Siberia’, ‘Medusa’, ‘Sorbonne’ were mainly cultivated Korea. main flower colors yellow, white, pink. Factors choosing prices bulbs affecting income farm. More than 90% used soil culture greenhouse grow flowers. Overall, suggested that stable production with low cost high quality required practical techniques should be developed increasing efficiency. In addition, pests, diseases, problems given local environmental conditions breeding new developing technology.
