ABSTRACT
Accurate simulation of the continuous icebreaking process in level ice is crucial for design icebreakers. The crushing and bending failures sheet, as well rotating, sliding accumulating cusps broken from sheet constitute a complex system process. In this paper, cohesive element method combined with an elastoplastic softening constitutive model to simulate ice.Firstly, modelling local calibrated by simulating cone tests.Three different laws are proposed their effects on results evaluated comparing experimental data. Then, simulated method. The regular tri-prism mesh applied bulk elements realize random propagation crack. The dependency study carried out, validated test both time domain frequency domain. The failure patterns during also compared between results. Finally, influences ship velocity resistance investigated numerical methods semi-empirical formulas.
