ABSTRACT
Core Ideas The study developed an image analysis approach for extracting the color features of a cotton canopy with digital camera. verified models using data collected from three fields high‐yielding cotton. Image techniques have been widely used to monitor crop growth and diagnose N status. main objective this was develop method monitoring ( Gossypium hirsutum L.) status images taken by experiment consisted two cultivars grown under five different application rates. Ten indices were extracted between emergence full bloom. Results showed that nine out ten significantly correlated content, leaf area index (LAI), dry matter accumulation (DMA). Among indices, green minus red (GMRI), excess (EGI), (GDRI), cover (CC) had highest correlation properties. Models describe relationships (GMRI, EGI, GDRI, CC) properties (N LAI, DMA). Relationships exponential. tested in large representative fields. GMRI, CC are valid indicators Digital cameras good potential
