ABSTRACT
ABSTRACT Demand for soybean [ Glycine max (L.) Merr.] meal has increased worldwide and importers often offer premiums containing higher contents of protein oil. Objectives were to detect quantitative trait loci (QTL) associated with seed protein, oil, weight in a mapping population confirm detected QTL across genetic backgrounds environments. Two populations 216 156 recombinant inbred lines developed from Magellan × PI 438489B 567516C crosses, respectively, grown two Missouri environments 2008. More than 900 simple sequence repeat (SSR) single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) markers used each population. Across backgrounds, we have identified seven six four weight. common one on chromosome (Chr.) 5 another Chr. 6. Additionally, new 6, the same region oil QTL. Confirmed Chrs. 6 may be important targets find candidate genes involved modification using genomic approaches. Also, SSR SNP closely these can useful marker‐assisted selection.
