ABSTRACT
When looking at the Spanish banking market through a German lens, differences between markets in these countries and decentralised centralised systems with regard to SME-credit decision-making process become obvious. Despite our hypotheses that savings banks were similar until crisis, or least liberalisation before break-up of regional principle, we came conclusion they never as significant Germany, not for SME finance. Notwithstanding re-cent initiatives create common European integrate diverse national systems, financial system remains spatially complex uneven, particularly respect degree geographical concentration. Whereas decentralisation increased especially during rather has more centralised. This development tended fuel crisis even further Spain. In Spain, however, whereas most banks, which already operated nationally, finally privatised due their heavy losses Germany share firm financing.
