ABSTRACT
Compared to the onshore wind turbine, floating offshore turbine (FOWT) suffers from worse environmental loads during its operation, leading complicated dynamic responses. The excessive vibration would be potentially harmful structure safety and reliability. Tuned Mass Damper (TMD) is regarded as a promising mitigation device has been popularized in FOWTs recently. However, effects on of TMD still difficult investigate due flexibility FOWT system varied excitations. This paper presents an experimental study responses under complex loads. According tower characteristics, highly adaptive designed constructed. integrated FOWT-TMD testing set up. Then, extensive tests are conducted with different environments operational states. results indicate that tower-top acceleration amplitude tower-base bending moment effectively reduced by using TMD, reduction 7.8% 8.8% survival condition respectively. It will serve verify effectiveness lay foundation for experimentation techniques advanced controllers.
