ABSTRACT
Electric vehicles are proposed as a viable option to replace the large number of polluting with internal combustion engines that widespread in sub-Saharan Africa. Using multilevel perspective (MLP), this study examined factors driving and hindering transition electric (EVs) Tanzania. Several barriers were identified, including high demand for used engine cars due their affordability. Incumbent actors found be firmly entrenched conventional vehicles’ ecosystem do not anticipate changes near future. While policies recommend usage alternative fuels petroleum products, electricity is explicitly mentioned. However, identifies steady development EV niches Tanzania, primarily focused on e2Ws e3Ws. To further promote adoption, transportation policy update well coordinated actions across various ministries, agencies plans related transport will necessary.
