ABSTRACT
Introduction: The EMG filling factor is an index to quantify the degree which signal has been filled. Here, we tested validity of such analyse process as contraction force was slowly increased. Methods: Surface signals were recorded from quadriceps muscles healthy subjects gradually increased 0 40% MVC. sEMG analyzed by measuring (calculated non-central moments rectified sEMG). Results: (1) As increased, one or two prominent abrupt jumps in amplitude appeared between and 10% MVC all vastus lateralis medialis.(2) originated when a few large-amplitude MUPs, clearly standing out previous activity, signal.(3) Every time jump occurred, new stage initiated.(4) almost completely filled at 2-12% MVC.(5) decreased significantly upon occurrence jump, additional MUPs added signal.(6) curve highly repeatable across repetitions. Conclusions: It validated that useful, reliable tool process. muscles, occurred stages due presence amplitude.
