ABSTRACT
Age-related slowing of gait has been reported to start as early the fifth decade and accelerate beyond seventh life. A single cut-off for slow may not be appropriate men women different ages. We aimed report reference values speed spatiotemporal parameters adult age groups in a South East Asian population.A total 507 community-dwelling adults, aged 21-90 years were recruited into study through random sampling, filling quotas 20-40 participants each sex group (10-year between 21 60 years; 5-year years). Demographic data, height, weight information on comorbidities recorded. Habitual measured, average three trials was recorded using GAITRite system.Gait peaked their 40s both women, but trajectories differed slightly across groups. Although similar 50s 60s, significantly slower among those 71 older. For 50 old, slowed with age. After adjusting found walk faster longer step length than men. Women also walked narrower stride width less external rotation feet. The lowest quintile our cohort 0.9m/s, below recommended 1.0m/s.We established well quintiles multi-ethnic population. This contributes valuable database assessment evaluation preventive or rehabilitative programs.
