ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study was to determine a new method for the early diagnosis and assessment mild cognitive impairment in elderly individuals with hypertension. Elderly hypertensive patients were assessed by Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) Clinical Dementia Rating (CDR). results compared apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) values from magnetic resonance-diffusion weighted imaging.A total 191 categorized into four groups: control group (normal cognition no hypertension; n=20); normal (hypertension cognition; n=33); an (n=80); vascular dementia (n=58). MoCA CDR tests used cognition. ADC eight brain regions calculated imaging. Other characteristics evaluated, eg, blood pressure, MoCA, scores, comparisons groups made. The scores differed among (P<0.001). Systolic diastolic pressure increased as function declined increased, they between people without hypertension Among participants, significantly cortex hippocampus. The sufficiently sensitive evaluate Blood closely related cognition, well functional structural changes brain. These alterations evidenced through most obvious hippocampus. Greater decline observed participants those without. As stage greater observed.
