ABSTRACT
Objective: The aim was to establish a large comprehensive database of patients with oral cavity squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) enable surveillance and research the disease.Methods: All diagnosed and/or treated for OSCC at Rigshospitalet, University Copenhagen, Denmark in period 2000-2014 were included.Rigshospitalet is tertiary treatment center covers Eastern region, comprising nearly half approximately 5.8 million inhabitants Denmark.Data on numerous variables regarding general information diagnosis, their primary cancer, recurrence, treatment, prior cancers, secondary cancers collected from Danish Pathology Register by evaluation medical charts.Results: One thousand three hundred ninety-nine included (62% males).The median age diagnosis 63 years (range: 23-99 years).The most common anatomical location floor mouth (38%).Among known stage, 70.0% T-stage 1 or 2 64.9% N-stage 0. Most surgery (81.7% among treatment), these 44% received adjuvant radiotherapy after surgery.The overall agestandardized incidence per 100,000 increased 2.15 2000 3.04 2014, significant annual percent change 3.2%. Conclusion:We have established consecutive, population-based 1,399 patients.This creates basis multiple studies that will elaborate our understanding OSCC, hopefully improve rehabilitation patients.
